Osho Muliversity: The Open Door

Osho Multiversity has been created by Osho as a place where people can learn a simple thing: how to live meditatively.

The Multiversity is in a setting unlike that of any other educational institution, meditation retreat, or growth center in the world.

It is an integral part of the community that surrounds it --

not separate and isolated from everyday life,

but nourishing and being nourished by Osho Commune as a whole.

Growth and self-discovery is an ongoing process in the world around Osho whether you are working,

participating in groups and meditations, taking time for each in turn,

or blending them together.

Osho Multiversity

Working in the commune

Groups can be useful, according to Osho, in unburdening people of their repressed emotions and fears, and in helping people to see themselves more clearly.

"Groups clean the rubbish that centuries have poured into the mind but without work the mind will again gather rubbish,"Osho says." Work is a necessary part of transformation; work makes the body rooted in the ground and then meditation can grow like flowers of a tree in the high sky."

Club Meditation

The Commune is unlike any other spiritual gathering place in the world. It has a relaxed, informal, atmosphere and many facilities for pure enjoyment.

There are four different eating areas including the Bodhidharma Tea Garden, and Osho Cafe which is known for its Japanese cuisine and other international favorites.

All food is vegetarian and prepared with the highest standards of hygiene.

Recreation facilities include "Zennis" courts, a volleyball court, a golf putting green, sauna, gymnasium, and a beautiful lagoon-shaped pool. In the evening there are nightly activities in Gautama the Buddha Auditorium as well as regular disco, current movies and a night spot called Osho Resort.

Bordering the Commune is the Osho Teerth garden area. This park was developed by the Shunyo Foundation which has transformed a neglected swampland into elegant Zen gardens with indigenous flora, eye-pleasing greenery and magnificent waterfalls.

A network of cobbled pathways lead through a fascinating landscape of rock gardens, past exquisite Buddha statues, and on to decorative wooden bridges over the stream which meanders its way through the park. The garden has been described as an "ecological prototype" and as the most beautiful garden in India.

AIDS-free Zone

Osho Commune International is an AIDS-free community - all visitors are required to have negative AIDS blood tests for HIV-1 and HIV-2 before registration. The test should be less than one month old and must clearly state that it is for both HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies. When you are registering at the Welcome Center, the negative test result, along with passport-sized photos, is required for issuance of passes to all Commune facilities.

Osho Times International

The Osho Times International is a bi-weekly newspaper available in English, Hindi, Gujarati, German, Italian, Japanese,Polish and Portuguese. For a free copy and subscription information, write to Osho Times International, 50 Koregaon Park, Poona 411 011, India.

The Poona Guide

The Poona Guide is a small booklet that includes information on how to get to Poona, hotels, what to bring to be more comfortable in India, etc. It is available through the World wide Distribution Centers for the works of Osho (see page 44) and the Poona Information and Booking Centers.

Latest Informations From Osho Commune

Tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world, people from all walks of life come here to experience meditation. Everyone is welcome provided they test negative at the Commune's AIDS testing facility on arrival.
Children between the age of 12 and 18 need to be accompanied by a parent.
The Commune does not have facilities for children under 12 or for people with severe physical and mental problems, so if you are in this situation and planning to visit, please write first to the Commune and wait for the reply before coming.
